Dear friends of classical music,

New issues of Early Music Today, Classical Music and Opera Now saw the light of day in June.

Adrian Horsewood gives in the latest issue of Early Music Today a particular warm welcome to a new recording of Els Biesemans. She recorded for Genuin an imaginative collection of Liszt lied-transcriptions on a period piano. 'While the use of period pianos in 19th-century music is becoming more and more prevalent, I'd say that this disc is far and away the most thrilling recording of one that I've heard in a long while.'
A very interesting book was released on Bernstein and his illustrious Young People-Fs Concerts. It must have been invigorating to hear and see this 20th century giant talk in prime time about classical music. As the author states: 'The concerts created a television template that has never been matched'.

In the June issue of Opera Now, Francis Muzzu was very pleased with the new recording on CPO of Feuersnot, a relative rarity of Richard Strauss, which he highly recommends.
