Bright, clear recorded sound and thoroughly musical playing can all be found here, together with a lovely 1998 ‘Bach’ organ where a mildly baroque temperament adds just enough spice. The Marcello, Vivaldi and Prince Johann Ernst transcriptions along with the BWV 593 Fugue in D minor are given thoroughly poised and musical performances.

Matthias Havinga clearly has the technical measure of the music, both in dazzlingly fast and meditatively slower movements, with a real sense of joy pervading. Together with the delicious sounds from the organ, the whole experience is thoroughly engaging.
