With so many fine recordings of Bach around, many recorded on original instruments, one wonders what new insights can be offered on a small modern 22-stop, 2-manual organ in A440Hz and equal temperament. The Prelude & Fugue in C major (BWV 547) and Toccata & Fugue in F (BWV 540) frame the CD, between which is the partita O Gott, du frommer Gott, several Orgelbüchlein chorale preludes and the ‘Schüblers’. Jordan’s playing is solid, but without the excitement to make up for the limited resources and the rather unexciting sound of this instrument. The recorded sound is also rather ‘boxed in’.
