Here’s a disc for curiosity seekers and Orientalists alike: a collection of traditional Asian folk songs arranged for organ and violin. The young, American Wong-Chen Duo (themselves respon- sible for the arrangements) prove largely persuasive advocates, with Lewis Wong’s nuanced strings making much of the music’s delicately etched pastoral prettiness and flights of contained ecstasy. Chelsea Chen proves a sympathetic partner on the bright, nuanced Dan Garland organ housed in the Bentwood Trail Presbyterian Church, Dallas, despite the spotlight falling a little too often on the violin.
