Continuing an impressive complete edition, Carus reaches Schütz’s first oratorio for the third day of Easter. Austerely beautiful, it works extremely well on disc, not least with performers of this calibre: singing throughout is of the very highest order, and the spare instrumental contributions come from artists such as gamba player Hille Perl and harpsichordist Ludger Rémy. Excellent German Radio sound.
