Persson’s exquisite Schubert – Du bist die Ruh a particular highlight – precedes sequences of lesser-known Scandinavian song. It is an imaginative idea to include Grieg setting German and Sibelius setting Swedish, with each responding vividly to their text, while Richard Hosford’s wide-eyed clarinet is a bonus in Schubert’s Der Hirt auf dem Felsen. Roger Vignoles proves himself throughout a peerless ‘accompanist’. Clear, warm recorded sound with full notes and translations.
