A bold, rhythmically-alive account of Beethoven’s final sonata is sandwiched imaginatively between the two books of Ligeti’s Etudes. These make a stimulating alternative to accounts from Aimard, Ullen et al and form part of a deeply satisfying recital. Excellent sound.
