The warm, crisply defined playing of the Kinsky Trio plays to the strengths of Rimsky-Korsakov and Arensky’s trios and avoids the trap of sentimentality. The former work – three bustling movements in classical style and a 14-minute, overlong finale of vibrant Tchaikovskyan emotionality – can sound fragmentary but here is imbued with mellow unity.
