A rare organ CD devoted to Mozart, played on a large three-manual organ from Mozart’s time. The programme includes the Adagio und Fuge K546, the two massive F minor fantasies K594 and K608, as well as intriguing pieces like the ‘Leipzig’ Gigue K574 and the Kyrie fugue from the Requiem K626. Mozart was never happy with K594 and K608 in their ‘musical clock’ format, so Lohmann realises these pieces in an arrangement that brings out the drama successfully. The playing is solid rather than overtly virtuosic, but the musical integrity of both music and organ is outstanding.
