I am about to admit to something that will incite a flurry of emails from discerning IP readers: I like Ludovico Einaudi’s music. I like the simplicity of his melodies, the repetitive, undulating patterns; the soothing and natural rhythms. I find great comfort in this music, as does campaigner Christine Rayner, who has recorded a disc of Einaudi’s solo piano works to raise money for UK cancer charities and research. Rayner, who has very close experience of the disease, having suffered from breast cancer herself, describes how Einaudi’s music affords her a ‘haven of peace in this noisy and stressful world’. The Calm of Einaudi includes popular Classic FM hits such as I Giorni (The Days) and Le Onde (The Waves). Let us echo Einaudi’s own remarks: ‘It’s very nice when music can help other people and I wish all the best to Christine Rayner’s beautiful project.’ Visit www.braveamazons.com to purchase the disc or to contact Christine, who offers advice and support to cancer patients and their families.
