A fascinating collection of concertante works from the jazz age, even if the playing scores higher for enthusiasm than polish. Soloists are mostly good, albeit often on pianos that appear to have encountered much suffering in life, and it is a pity that the recording leaves so much to be desired. Few will be tempted to buy this disc for Rhapsody in Blue, but it’s worth the modest price for the two works by Dana Suesse alone.
