Much better-known as a conductor, De Sabata built up a compact body of compositions in most genres, clearly influenced by Stravinsky, Respighi and Richard Strauss. His Shakespearean score was written for open-air performance in 1934, and the 15 numbers are charming and interesting – though a concert suite might have been more suitable.
