Bold and delightful in equal measure, this young Czech ensemble offers a generous and unusual follow-up to its 2009 set of the Martinu trios. Foerster’s Trio no 2 from 1919 makes a perfect opener, never outstaying its welcome, and Fibich’s Trio from almost 50 years earlier is over much too soon. If Novak’s Trio no 2 does not match his extraordinary Second Quartet for impact and inspiration, it is good to have such a committed performance.
