Warm, expressive and supremely graceful playing that puts many of today’s more stellar artists to shame. Martzy makes the strongest possible case for Schubert’s four deceptively simple sonatas, and there is no want of power or technical dazzle in the more testing Fantasy or Rondo brillant. Excellent transfers by Paul Baily.
