Perhaps not ‘the greatest guitarist composer of all time’ but Augustin Barrios has a distinctive way with spicy dance music or more complex cantabile pieces such as Un Sueño en la Floresta and Aconquija. Durrant, who – as the album title implies – encountered the Paraguayan composer’s work during childhood guitar lessons, gives them a persuasive outing.
