Despite the Parisian connection, there is a world of difference between the weighty reflection in Martinů’s two string trios and the fleet-footed vitality we get from Françaix. In their debut recording the Lendvai capture both characters acutely, revealing Martinů’s recently rediscovered first trio as well worth the unearthing.
