Restored by Kuhn in 2002 to its 1717 state, this important historic II/20 organ contains pipework dating from c.1600. Helga Schauerte is well known for her scholarly critical editions for Bärenreiter, and here plays the chorale preludes Nun komm der Heiden Heiland, An Wasserflüssen Babylon, Komm, Gott Schöpfer, Komm, Heiliger Geist, Herr Jesu Christ, Nun danket, Allein Gott in der Höh sei Ehr and Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten sein from the ‘18’ collec- tion, together with the simple chorale harmonisations. The organ is fine, sounding in fairly small-scale church acoustics, from which Schauerte coaxes some beautiful sounds.
