Excellence never dates nor runs out of fashion. The Magnificat was recorded in 1988 in the Berlin Schauspielhaus, at a live performance to mark the 200th anniversary of C.P.E. Bach’s death; the symphonies are studio recordings of 1989. The quality of the recording together with the ability of all the performers make this an unforgettable experience. Clear, flowing playing where phrase answers phrase with subtle nuances in the symphonies is echoed by the singers in the Magnificat. The clarity of the composer’s writing is treated with understanding and loving respect. Thank you, Brilliant Classics, for enabling us to share in this musical treat.
