Yet again Testament unearths gold from the dusty vaults of recorded sound. Lefébure was idolised by Fürtwangler and left a rich legacy of discs. She knew ravel and Fauré, and her performances here of both are infused with both clarity and authority. Book Two of Debussy’s Préludes are presented here with the same conviction, and the 1960s BBc studio sound serves her well.
