Lionel Tertis’ first major commission was McEwen’s striking concerto, while Vaughan Williams’ rarely-heard Suite is a real find, a mature work of great subtlety and variety. Following in Tertis’ footsteps, Power makes a strong case for it, investing in it playing of great power, focus and warmth. Flos Campi is of course much better known, but has not been better recorded than here. Excellent recorded sound.
