DG gives its newest carpet treatment with, oddly, a radio recording from seven years ago. The first half is big-boned Mozart; the second, volatile and ultra-romantic Chopin Preludes, broadly similar to Sokolov’s 1990 live recording for Naïve. Best of all are the six encores: exquisite Scriabin, wistful Chopin and a valedictory Bach chorale.
