Recorded live last summer, Rossini’s final ‘sin of old age’ here comes up as fresh as paint. Dantone zips along, his long experience in early music giving the proceedings a zesty, characterful sheen. soloists are excellent – Michael Spyres’ Domine Deus remains long in the memory – yet even they are outshone by crack chamber choir Accentus, revelling in every note.
