Grandeur and solemnity characterise Flights of Angels, The Sixteen’s anthology of works by Francisco Guerrero and Alonso Lobo associated with Seville. Cherry-picked rather than tightly themed, this programme of bits of assorted Masses plus motets in a variety of scorings offers much warmth and richness of recorded sound: the Range Rover of English choirs, reliable over most terrains, once again plays a canny commercial hand by having the ‘disc of the concert’ ready for the tour.
