This trance was joyfully interrupted by the grace, gorgeous variety and unaffected expressivity of the voices and instruments of Ensemble Leones in Argentum et Aurum, plundering a rich seam of material from the late medieval and early renaissance Habsburg Empire: sacred and secular song and dance from Isaac, Hofhaimer, Oswald von Wolkenstein and plenty of ‘anon’, including some world premiere recordings, here recorded with character, presence and élan.
