A tricky one. Recording the variations in a single day, van Bloss seems to find some more interesting than others, skating tritely over some yet clearly relishing others: the impression is of a guidebook to the work rather than a committed, individual reading. His obvious talent seems better suited to the Appassionata, bold and direct.
