Kei Koito plays a varied selection of chorale and free works on this disc, opening with a nicely paced G major BWV 541. The organ is particularly fine, historically important for this music, and well recorded, and the booklet notes and pictures are excellent. The lovely foundation stops are heard in the chorale BWV 1092, a delicious 4ft flute in the Fughetta of BWV 902, and a plenum with a tierce Mixture in the closing magisterial Fantasia on ‘Komm heiliger Geist’ BWV 651. Koito’s tendency to over-articulate is sometimes a little tiresome, but this is nevertheless a worthy addition to the corpus of Bach recordings.
