Protégée of Monteverdi, Francesco Cavalli was prolific yet possessed of a keen compositional and dramatic flair, and many of his operas have been well served on disc. as if there weren’t enough, this portmanteau creation (literally ‘Love in Love’) weaves a selection of arias from seven of them, as well as a couple of instrumental items by colleagues, into a satisfying, organic whole. Soloists Nuria Rial and Hana Blažiková are superb and the whole enterprise glows with commitment and panache.
