This disc takes as its starting point two of Bach’s Vivaldi concerto transcriptions – those in D minor BWV 596 and C major BWV 594, followed by imaginative transcriptions for organ of The Four Seasons by Heinrich Grimm, and inspired by Bach. This is a wonderful and highly colourful programme played on the recently restored last and greatest of Silbermann’s organs. Albrecht’s playing is stylish, and demonstrates the tonal genius of this organ with an extraordinary range of registrations. It is well recorded with good clarity, and yet retaining the sense of space in the huge acoustics of the Hofkirche.
