Six men gorge on Gombert Motets in another double-CD with calorific singing in rich acoustics from pleasingly grained voices. The results are lively and engaging performances from an excellent ensemble using specially created editions, revealing a composer who pushes boundaries, demands astonishing moments of delicious dissonance, and disturbs with insistent, churning polyphony. Dipping in rather than feasting avoids indigestion, even when it’s all done to a turn by the fetchingly named Austrian ensemble Beauty Farm.
