The Gdansk-based, award-winning 441Hz Chamber Choir was founded a decade ago by Anna Wilczewska. Judging by this CD of contem- porary choral works, they are destined for a successful future. The range of material programmed embraces the warm colours of settings by Mealor, Gjeilo and Whitacre to works by Michio Mamiya, Stockhausen and contemporary Polish composers. Whatever the style, 441Hz are its equal. They deliver performances of great commitment, virtuosity and beauty of tone. Just occasionally I hankered for a bit more sense of the text’s meaning, but this is the only drawback on a fine disc.
