Chamayou is no stranger to disc, with excellent Franck and Dukas recitals to his name. This, his first release for Erato, is if anything even finer: a warm, full tone, coloured (or not) where necessary, allied to intuitive rubato, control and real panache. Miroirs and the Valses nobles et sentimentales are finely judged, while Gaspard is a worthy successor to Michelangeli and Bavouzet, inspired and boldly individual. Excellent sound.
