Here’s a welcome addition to Priory’s Great European Organs series as it moves towards its centenary milestone. Housed in Roquevaire’s St Vincent Church, Pierre Cochereau’s home organ (albeit substantially augmented by Daniel Birouste in 1997) reveals itself to be an instrument of considerable power, its V/72 resources tonally sumptuous, vividly colouristic and altogether graceful in its elegantly muscular manner. It’s a perfect machine for this largely French programme from Cochereau biographer Anthony Hammond. Music by both features alongside contributions from Daniel Roth, Jean Bouvard, Naji Hakim and Marius Monnikendam in a puissantly played recital with much to recommend it.
