This is actually Volume 3 of schneider’s ongoing series of these endlessly inspired, joyful works and it opens in the grandest possible way with the concerto in D for trumpets, oboes and timpani. Subsequent concertos, for various combinations of horns, transverse flutes, oboes, horns and strings are just as enjoyable, and solo contributions are every bit as impressive as ensemble support throughout. With excellent recorded sound and liner notes, this typifies everything for which this admirable, adventurous label stands.
