From the early Préludes and Fantaisie Burlesque to the enigmatic Petites esquisses d’oiseaux, Muraro is a bold, imaginative, if at times slightly over-emphatic champion of this music. If occasionally he rushes his fences, and is sometimes simply too loud, there is no denying the concentration and virtuosity on offer. Listeners may not wish to be without Yvonne Loriod in this repertoire, but this reissue presents a valid (and economical) alternative. DVDs of Vingt Regards and interesting documentaries are a very welcome, generous bonus.
