A refreshing, beautifully realised new recording of Fauré’s Requiem which makes an elegant tribute to organist and conductor John Scott, who died in August last year. In the Rutter edition for chamber orchestra and organ, the New York boys and men sing eloquently and touchingly – treble Richard Pittsinger is exceptional – and the couplings (the two Offertories, the Messe Basse for high voices and the Cantique de Jean Racine) come over just as well. Superb recording, one feels transported to Fifth Avenue.
