For me this CD is a trip into the past when many years ago I sang my way through The National Song Book week after week at school. During the 20th century music publishers were also produc- ing folk song arrangements for choirs, and this repertoire comes from Books 1 and 2 of OUP’s Folk Songs for Choirs. The many arrangers include Vaughan Williams, Gustav Holst and John Rutter. If you favour elegant arrangements and carefully enunciated, refined performances then you will enjoy this disc. I prefer a little more earth with my folk music.
