All the virtues of Clare Choir’s Epiphany disc are on display in this sequence of music for Remembrance-tide, which culminates in a fine reading of the Duruflé Requiem. Unlike the recent King’s College recording, the Duruflé is here given in the version with organ accompaniment, for which Clare Choir is joined by excellent vocal soloists Jennifer Johnston and Neal Davies, with cellist Guy Johnston contributing to the Pie Jesu. It’s as satisfying a performance of this increasingly popular Requiem as you are likely to find, and Matthew Jorysz makes the most of the Father Willis organ of Lincoln Cathedral. Ross’s programme includes familiar items by Farrant, Tomkins and Weelkes, as well as a truly gorgeous account of Harris’s Bring Us, O Lord God, relaxed yet finely shaped.
