With two Schubert discs under his belt, this young Swiss tenor turns to Schumann and presents one of the freshest, most appealing Dichterliebes of recent years. He uses a wide emotional and tonal palette yet always at the service of the music – this reviewer is reminded of a young Wunderlich – and he is matched by Deutsch for nuance and flair. With an imaginatively chosen sequence of shorter lieder, and fine recorded sound, this is worth investigating.
