Back to Italy and forward to the 1700s for another world premiere recording: Giuseppe Giordani’s Opere Sacre , performed by the 15-strong Coro ‘Goffredo Petrassi’ with soloists and organ, including Mass and Vespers items and a clutch of Offertory material. In music of a sub-Mozartian elegance, this stodgily old-fashioned and unblended performance does it few favours. Choral discipline is wayward and some eye-wateringly sour intonation seriously mars a disc almost worthy of an honourable mention.
