The Cardinall’s Musick celebrate Thomas Tallis in a delightful programme largely of English service music, with not only Spem in alium but also its English contrafactum, Sing and glorify. There’s a sonorous warmth to the lower voices, ameliorating the occasionally searing soprano, in a recording of great clarity which serves the 40 parts well.
