In as delightful a recital as this reviewer hopes to hear this year, Queffélec has crafted an inspired 80-minute sequence anchored around some of Satie’s best-known works – Gnossiennes, Gymnopedies, etc – and rarities by Déodat-de Séverac, Reynaldo Hahn and Charles Koechlin, which rub shoulders with Poulenc’s Pastourelle and Debussy’s Clair de lune. As the description says: ‘The pathways of French music are many and varied – and immensely colourful’. Just wonderful!
