Bosch completes his Dvořák cycle with a disc that exemplifies the strengths and weaknesses of the earlier releases. If his Nuremberg orchestra lacks the last word in finesse, there is a compensating freshness vividly caught in this live SACD recording. Bosch is a force of nature on the podium and there is no want of excitement – he sometimes leaves too little in reserve – but quiet passages are beautifully moulded. Even without a coupling, The Bells of Zlonice have rarely rung out with such verve.
