Michael van Krücker is an excellent exponent of Ludovico Einaudi’s music. The music itself is a softened, or more accurately soft-focus, minimalism, and often bland: a sort of Philip Glass shorn of meaning. All pieces seem to be of a similar tempo, somewhere around the Andante mark (in fact ‘Andante con moto’ seems to be Einaudi’s favourite designation). The composer himself has recorded many of these pieces, but van Krücker has his own way. Contrast also, for example, van Krücker’s Una Mattina with the more focused Jeroen van Veen (Brilliant Classics).
