As an antidote to all this Baroque frenzy, how about the elegant German tenor Fritz Wunderlich singing popular music in Hits from the ’50s? An easygoing and mellifluous voice in any genre, here the singer is letting his hair down. Every track sounds as though Dean Martin is about to start warbling, but Wunderlich’s smooth and stylish tenor is a treat (sorry Dino, we still love you).
