On his IV/60 Schantz home organ in Saint Louis, Andrew Peters delivers a fine recital of American organ music bookended by Dudley Buck’s pleasingly inventive Concert Variations on ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ and Charles Ives’s bravura Variations on ‘America’. Of interest are a vivid transcription of Aaron Copland’s driving Passacaglia, a soulful interpretation of Ned Rorem’s storm-tossed Rain Over the Quaker Graveyard, and the brooding ‘Finale’ miniature from Ulysses Kay’s Suite no.1. The four excerpts from Emma Lou Diemer’s Folk Hymn Sketches are pleasant, Barbara Harbach’s Fantasy & Fugue on ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’brimming with variety.
