Neapolitan composer Donato Richezza wrote the oratorio Los Santos Niños in 1683 for a Spanish viceroy. This curious tale of holy children, Justus and Pastor, martyred by the Emperor Diocletian, survives in an inventive and entertaining score and Antonio Florio’s Cappella Neapolitana, committed to uncovering such rarities, continues to shine a light on late 17th-century Italian sensibilities in this world premiere recording.
