Julia Brown’s mission to record ‘complete’ Scheidemann continues with volume 7 of her admirable series. The III/49 organ (2004) tuned in Kellner’s ‘Bach’ temperament is a fine modern instrument on which she draws a plethora of interesting colours. Just occasionally does the playing sound a little too reverent, but the early playing techniques and the rhythmic flexibility with a sure sense of pulse reveal the musical interest of this repertoire in the varied range of genres. No doubt her teacher and recording producer, Wolfgang Rübsam, had a controlling interest. Nevertheless, a fine achievement all round.
