Bjørn Boysen is regarded as one of Norway’s finest organists, something confirmed by this recording of Bach’s Trio Sonatas made in his 70th year where Boysen’s musicianship and affection for these works are evident throughout. These are fine performances, where tempi are well judged and registrations very much chamber music oriented, but not eschewing brighter sounds, for instance in the last movements of Sonatas 2 and 6, where the music sparkles with energy. The Gloger organ’s singing principals and colourful flutes and reeds are a delight and serve the music well. Strongly recommended.
