This beautifully packaged disc follows a previous release of this mid-18th-century organ by Lépine (a builder who worked with Dom Bedos). A detailed restoration was undertaken by Bertrand Cattiaux (2001-05) and the magnificent palette that results is gloriously captured here in the most appropriate repertoire. The sonorities of the many stops are in themselves a lesson in how registration is implicit in the structure of classical French organ music. Frédéric Desenclos captures the energy and grandeur of these works with complete assurance. A more persuasive documentation of the Marchand Intégrale is difficult to imagine.
